you could have the wasted spark version, so no dizzy, just get off your lazy ass and see how many HT leads you can see, 2 = no dizzy, >2 = dizzy.

 

Technically, If he only has two he won't be able to see them at all as they just sit on the top of the head.

Yep, the VVC does not have a dizzy. The 145BHP version has 2 coils mounted on the side of the engine, on the 160 version they are mounted on top of 2 of the spark plugs (hence why there are only 2 HT leads).

 

Feck, cuz I've just gone to the motorists centre and returned with 4 new plugs a rotor and a cap for a VVC!!!!!

I thought I'd read that the early VVC F's had a dizzy, but I'm obviously wrong

that is one thing I am good at, and getting better by the day

 

All VVC's are wasted spark with no distributor.

Earlier cars have the coil packs on the back of the engine and hence 4 leads. The later ones have the coil packs in the leads then selves and hence look as if they have 2.

Correct, there is a coil pack at the back of the engine which contains a twin coil system.

As the engine developed, we moved to plug top coils mailny for emissions and performance requirements.

 

I had hoped it was to stop the starting problems with those humungously long leads
