It saddens me to do so, but the time is coming to part with Monty, my 1971 traveller.
I bought the car in december 2004 from a chap in Guilford- it had been laid up since 1988 and needed a substantial amount of welding doing. Fast forward to September 2008 and Montys first MOT in 20 years - which he flew through with flying colours (with the exception of a king pin needing replacing and a very very small blob of weld required)
Monty was used for a year and attended last years National at Haynes but was laid up in September due to a change of circumstances and I've now realised that unless he is sold he will stay laid up for a long time to come. The old school regulars may have noticed my absence from the site for the last few months.....
A few details of the car:
1971 Adderly Park Traveller (with steering lock!)
Hif38 carb on minisport inlet manifold
13" Weller Steel wheels with firestone 175 tyres
3.9 Diff
Cassette Radio
1098 Engine (believed to be original)
Gold Seal Spridget Gearbox.
Electric Windscreen washer
The car goes fantasticly well, and with the exception of the head gasket going in October 2008 its been a really reliable little motor.
Bodywork wise, its rock solid and is unlikely to need any welding in the forseeable future however (as those who will seen it will testify) the paintwork is an absolute mess but its honest, orginal paint - I always intended to leave it this way - I've always loved "ratty" cars. The woodwork is generally in good nick with no obvious rot - with the exception of the rear doors which will need replacing (I've got a replacement set and will include with the sale)
Viewings are of course welcome but are best arranged on a Thursday, or Weekend.
The car is currently without tax or MOT but these will be arranged, subject to an offer at the right price
I'm looking for offers in the region of £1200
Car is located in Shedfield (approx 1/2 way between Portsmouth & Southampton, Hampshire)
