klkl i just had a look and there seems to be two kit one at 170bhp and one at 185bhp i didnt know if like a 4-2-1 manifold cat bk system and like air filter and a remap that what i was looking at doing

Without throttle bodies and a solid cam conversion, you would break the 185bhp mark

........unless you use nos

 

so really i got to look at the big conversion of TBs and stuff then so really with a exhast system and manifold and stuff like i said i aint going to get over 185bhp

 

How much did you pay for your 160? cos by the time you have finished tuning it you might have been better to buy a civic type r or clio 197...

I was flicking through auto trader last night and the last gen type r and 3 year old 197's are going for peanuts... i also saw a focus st-2 going for less than 10k.

 

Screw them, get a R26.

On the TF's the 160 can be remaped to around 180 with little or no 'extra' mods; the 160 models i have read have stronger pistons than the other k series engines so you can push them slightly further. Check out the search function and search the TF side of the forum too.

 

The 160 pistons top out at around 185-190. Much past this and the ringlands start to crack.

Getting that power out of a 160 is pretty much impossible anyway, VVC mechs cant give enough air to flow anymore (not enough valve lift).

 

do they use the same engine in a tf to a zr or is it different

Basic breathing mods +progressively controlled 50bhp shot of Nos. Probably cheapest method for power and you can turn it off to save on petrol!


.............reliabilty, dependant on who you talk to, would be engine specific.

 

i know mate lol but i got to say it is fast but true so what would people do first becuase at the mo it has got a piperX induction kit and a magnex back box

That PTP breathing kit, according to a RR on the ZR forum, generates nowhere near the 180 figure stated. More towards the 170 mark and possibly a bit lower. It just frees up the engine a little more and make things a bit more responsive. Ashy has a ported head and an emerald ECU and he only considers himself to be running around 175ish although he did start of with a 143 VVC block

Don't bother tuning the puny ZR160...................................just buy a Man's car, the ZS180 and tune that!:broon: It'll sound wayyyy better with induction and exhaust mods because it's already one step ahead of the K4 pot.

I suppose in terms of Ashy, yes before and after RR firgures would help but there are RR figures for the PTP kit on ZR forum. Not going to find them though as it was a thread from a while ago and I got a report that Im writing atm lol

You could always go along to Reyland and invest in one of their Audi turbo conversions on a PG1 for the ZR. £1500 might net you all the bits needed to do it yourself. I'm smitten after seeing their demo car in action last year

well lol i have had alot of different aspec about tuning i think i might just get the exhast system and that it but the vag conversion looks well good lol

 

now that reyland conversion sounds cool

i looked into tuning my 160 but it is so expensive for such little gains it didnt seem worth it.
