First of all, nothing cant be done :D

Second of all - Which engine are you talking about, the Rover 2.5 KV6?

Challlenges will be (briefly)
- Weight issues, and destroying the balance of the car (K-Series is a light alloy engine, KV6 is a lump of pig iron)
- Space, there has only been one KV6 conversion I remember in vague memory, and it involved cutting into the boot and/or tank area.
- Custom engine mounts (obviously). I dont think it has a single one in common with the K-Series :(
- Custom driveshaft. For the sake of sanity most conversions use the matching gearbox for the engine (Honda conversions end up with a 6-speen MG :D), but its mating it to the car that requires a custom (=expensive) part.
- ECU. Expect an emerald / similar at the very least.

If you are looking at going an engine conversion (and why not ;)) I would suggest you strongly consider the Honda VTEC (Type-R) route. A couple have been done with plenty of success. Its not a plug n play kit by any means, but there will be some exeperience / assistance kicking about.

Good Luck ;)

Here's the thread mate:

Will require cutting of the firewall between the engine and the fuel tank as well as a custom (smaller) tank itself. It's also more difficult on the TF due to the subframe suspension mounts.

The Honda K20A is probably the "Easiest" engine swap but they all take time and a well kitted out workshop either that or lots of money for a turnkey conversion.

I think you should give it a go, although as an owner of an MG ZT 190 and a 1996 vvc MGF I think that putting the KV6 engine in a car that is very nearly Half the weight would be absolutely TERRIFYING!!! In a good way of course!

This is always one of the things that puzzles me, from all the posts on here we hear that:-

" the tf is very tyre specific"" the tf is unstable and wanders at speed"

"Fit toyos all round, get your tracking/bearings/compliance washers done before you end in a ditch" How do we solve it :-

Fit 52mm throttle bodies and induction kits to gain the extra few horses, or fit a much more powerful engine which will vastly alter the balance, trim and tracking of the car as well as put loads more torque to the rear wheels. :faint:

From what I can remember from talking to the chap who did the conversion (this was in 08) that there was no real cutting of the bodywork but as said there is a loss of fuel capacity. The main issue is sorting out the rear suspension the blue F has a hybrid F and TF suspension.

There were no reports of the extra weight being an issue
