Pretty much. If you did a search about 1.4 turbos almost all of them end up with the starter deciding not to do it. For the money and work involved it's almost pointless.

I Afterall, it's a 1.4. It's only recently that car manufacturers ahve starting offering 1.4 cars with high power outputs (1.4 turbo Punto Abarth anyone? 190bhp :naughty: )

I obviousely didnt understand what he meant then. Lots of small high power engines have been produced through the years - from the MGA twin cam with supercharger to the engine in the Renault 5 turbo. Granted more recent lower displacement engines have been able to cope with higher power outputs, but over the years their have been quite a few high output low displacement engines.

id agree with that just look at fiesta and escort rs turbos 1.6 8v and put out some serious power

That's nice. But that's in a car that weighs less than a fart.
doing it in a ZR isn't going to reward nearly as much as a Mini.

call it me being naive but before getting into the whole car modification thing i always thought you could get a car like a 1.4 which has bigger versions of itself such as the 1.6 or 1.8 and change bits of your current engine to make it into the bigger ones. i always thought the main block was the same just certian parts which created more power

The 1.6 is just a 1.4 with bigger liners and pistons.

The 1.8 is a 1.6 with a longer stroke.

Your 1.4 ECU will run it as well

is my back feeling wet or are you being serious?lol as when ever anyone says "i have a 1.4 but want more power!!" everyone replys with either get a bigger engine or air filter, vvc inlet and throttle body but thats it. and now u say i cud just change 2 things and get 120 strait away without filter/remappin etc etc :S

meh you know what i meant when people say "get a bigger engine" in my mind that automatically creates a picture of a crane ripping out the entire engine and when you say quote "The 1.6 is just a 1.4 with bigger liners and pistons." it creates a mental image of just 2 sections being unbolted and 2 better ones being put back on
