This evening at the MPH show at the NEC, MG unveiled the UK production spec MG6 for the first time in MG's home city. It was shown at MPH in London last week, but tonight was when we got to see it! Prices are currently only given as an 'indicated range' of between £16,000 to £20,000, which is reasonably competitive for its segment, up against the focus and alike. Indeed the top spec MG6 looks to be very competitive on price, given all the toys it comes with.

The MG6 is the first all-new MG to be launched in the UK in 15 years and will lead the way to a whole new family of MG models in the coming years from MG Motor UK in Birmingham. It has been designed and engineered by a team based at the MG Birmingham site where final assembly also takes place.

The MG6 is sleek and stylish. The fastback design gives a huge boot space, which can be further extended by folding the rear seats. Inside the car is a spacious five seater with generous head and leg room. The supportive seats add to the overall comfort and the standard levels of equipment are high. It is available in 3 trim levels, S, SE and the top of the range, TSE.

Power is provided by the 1.8-litre TCI Tech Turbocharged, intercooled petrol engine which develops 160bhp and is linked to a 5 speed transmission.

Handling and driving dynamics have always helped to distinguish MG from other marques and the MG6 is no exception. McPherson strut front  and multi-link rear suspension and a brilliant chassis design gives the MG6 a superbly agile and supple ride. On town roads the MG6 is poised and comfortable, while on twisty, demanding roads its sporty nature comes into its own. Stopping power is great too; the MG6 has ABS brakes with EBD - Electronic Brake Force Distribution as standard along with a stability control system.

Quality and attention to detail make every MG6 package backed by a  growing dealer network across the UK. Delivery of the first cars to customers will begin in early 2011.
