The Future's bright, the future's, erm... red!

New MG LogoToday MG launched their new brand corporate Identity (pictured right). The old red on cream logo came in with the RV8, so had been kicking around for a while and its not too surprising they chose now to reinvent it.

What's in a logo? Well, it has to be clearly indentifyable, convey the brand message (whatever that may be) and make the product stand out in a market place. The MG logo is a pretty rare example of a logo that really hasn't changed all that much at all. Even back on the early cars, it was almost the same - with red involved somewhere, either as the colour of the car, the background to the badge, the background to the octogan or as with the MG badge we've got used to over the last decade and a half, the Red MG and octogan on a light cream background.

The new indentity brings the iconic badge up to date. Its heavily three-dimensional, both on signage or on the car - obviously not on letterheads, but i guess that's a little harder to accomplish!

The facelift to the brand though extends past just a new logo, a complete overhaul to the dealer signage and theme has been revealed that will certainly make the dealerships stand out.
